About Longstanton Bowls Club

Our Aim is to support and nurture the next generation of bowlers and encourage family bowling, providing mental & physical wellbeing to all our members.  We also want to encourage schools to consider Lawn Bowls as a healthy, fun activity within their curriculums. New members, both experienced and beginners, are welcome and are assured of a friendly welcome.

The club enters teams in four local leagues: the Cambridge and District League, the Meldreth and District League, the Ely and District League and the Business Houses League. Matches in the Cambridge and District League, the Meldreth and District and in the Business Houses League are held on week-day evenings; matches in the Ely and District League take place on Monday and Friday afternoons starting at 2pm. There are also some afternoon fixtures at the weekends when friendly matches with other clubs take place.

When there is sufficient demand, the club hosts roll-ups for members on Saturday afternoons between 2pm and 4:30pm. Details of these sessions can be found on the “News” page. These sessions are an ideal opportunity for new members to find out more about the club or the game of bowls. Since 2015, the club has also held a weekly drive for members on Thursday afternoons from 2pm to 4:30pm; this includes a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Also, each year the club runs a number of competitions for its members, culminating in a Finals Day that is held in early September.

The club draws most of its membership from Longstanton and the surrounding villages of Bar Hill, Swavesey, Over, Willingham, Oakington and Cottenham. At the end of 2023, Longstanton Bowls Club moved to a new bowls green in Northstowe and is now attracting Northstowe residents.

Longstanton Bowls Club organises various social events for the members throughout the year.
