About Us

Northstowe is a new town in South Cambridgeshire, with the first properties occupied in 2017. On completion, the development will consist of around 10,000 new homes, with affordable housing making up 40% of provision. The population continues to grow rapidly, with a young demographic profile and a diverse mix of nationalities, faiths and social backgrounds.

About the Northstowe Hub

In the early years of the town, community life centred around the Community Wing – a temporary space in an unused part of Pathfinder Primary School. Northstowe Hub grew out of the Friends of the Wing, a community group formed to support it. When the Community Wing closed in 2022 as the school expanded into the space, and with the planned permanent community centre still not yet delivered,

Northstowe was briefly left without any dedicated community facility.
This gap motivated our trustees to come together and ensure that residents were not left isolated. Since then, Northstowe Hub has grown steadily – running community events like the annual Midsummer Festival and Light Up Northstowe, regular pop-up café sessions, our micro-library, support groups and more, first based primarily from the Cabin (Northstowe’s temporary community centre), and now across the town as the community continues to develop.

The opening of the Unity Centre marks a significant milestone for Northstowe, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside the town council and other partners to make the most of what it offers.

Our Aims

We exist to bring people together and improve quality of life in Northstowe and the surrounding area. We are particularly committed to ensuring that those most in need are not left behind as our town grows.

To deliver our charitable purposes, we aim to ensure that residents:

  • Are informed about and have access to the facilities, activities and support networks that improve their wellbeing – whether that’s a community café, a social event, a support group, or simply a friendly face
  • Have a voice in shaping the facilities and activities available to them, so that what we do genuinely reflects the needs of the whole community
  • Can connect with others – whether they’re new to Northstowe, raising a family, or at risk of isolation – through events, groups and initiatives that foster a sense of belonging
  • Benefit from a thriving, well-resourced community charity that works collaboratively with local authorities, organisations and volunteers to make Northstowe a great place to live.
